See Race Flyer for more information & registration form. Register Online here
  • The Winnebago SuperCrossing will start Friday, Sept. 20th at 1:30 pm, at Roosevelt County Park. It’s a long-distance race with a relaxed format. Conditions permitting, the lake can be crossed from the south to the north. Some years it’s a challenge just to get to Wendt’s or Jim & Linda’s. The Finish is across from Wind Power at the Sunset on the water Grill & Bar. In 2012 we sailed to TJ’s, the new bar on the west side of the Lake. MoWind’s only free race!
  • The Wind Power Championship is one of the biggest regattas with attendance from all over the Mid-west. It’s on the US Windsurfing National Tour. Wind conditions are usually very good, yet the water is warm with Fall approaching. Wind Power caters to the beginner racers; making them feel welcome and comfortable is most important! The famous “M” course (5 jibes) is standard and there will be many challenging courses for the A-Fleet to enjoy. Slalom Races will be held, wind permitting. Saturday night after beverages and dinner the Bonfire Ritual will take place.
  • Charter Equipment will be available for all Fleets. Windsurf, Stand-Up-Paddle and O’Pen BIC. Contact Wind Power today to reserve yours!
  • All of Wind Power’s 2013 School Fleet Equipment will be available at discounted pricing after the regatta. Windsurf Boards and Sails, Stand-Up-Paddle Boards and O’Pen BIC Sailboats. Call Wind Power for prices and details.
  • WindPowerWeather.com – For the most accurate real time weather report on the South end of Lake Winnebago. Check wind, forecasts and water temperature. Historical data is also available.

Reservoir Rendezvous Results 2013

It is always nice to be welcomed and recognized!   Many thanks to the New London Reservoir Campground and Recreation division for providing a great windsurfing venue and furnishing windsurfing trophies again!

We had awesome Friday pre-event fun sailing with 6.5 short board conditions that brought out several locals and enticed several racers to show up a day early.  It blew all day long, even after dark and most were half spent before the racing was to begin on Saturday.     Late Friday evening people gathered round a camp fire watching a huge lightning show far off in the distance over Lake Erie.   That huge front hit camp about 3am  in the morning with wind and rain until near eleven Saturday morning.  Unfortunately that weather kept several regular attenders at home.    Still we had ten survivors that registered plus several non-competitors, along with spouses and a dozen or more kids and four dogs for a nice sized group.    Racing got going about 12:30 Sat in 5 to 10 mph breezes in partly sunny skies.  Many thanks to Carl Rappaport who organized food for Saturday lunch and an evening group barbeque and Sunday breakfast.

The course laid out by Eric Rahenfueher  this year took advantage of near every square foot of water on the 220 acre reservoir.    The upwind mark was the mysterious Research buoy followed by 4 jibe marks and a final leeward mark and tack to a short finish gate right in front of the beach.   Spectators watched the action  from the new gazebo located at the end of windsurf pointe seen in the picture below.    There were lots of close finishes which made it fun for beach spectators to cheer on their favorite windsurfer to victory.

Also new this year were two water front large primitive cabins and two camp sites with electric on the water on the west side of windsurf pointe.    The improvements make the New London Reservoir  a very affordable family windsurf vacation destination for Ohio area windsurfers.

Four long races were ran on Saturday.  Sunday morning the wind was very light with long lulls and the race committee called racing officially over about 12:30.  Some very nice windsurfing trophies were awarded.

2013 Door County Breeze

The 2013 Door County Breeze had great weather to go along with its usual great times. Ephraim and all of Door County are a wonderful place to visit in the summer. The event had windy racing on Saturday, including a long distance race around Horseshoe Island, followed by a terrific dinner at the race site provided by Jan Vande Corput and family. More racing followed on Sunday in warm weather. I’ll try to post a more complete regatta report soon…

For now, a H-U-G-E “Thank You” goes out to Steve and Jan Vande Corput, their family, Ann Gratton, Marlin Meitzen, and everyone else who helped make this event happen!

2013 Worthington Report

Racers were treated to another wonderful Worthington Windsurfing Regatta last weekend, despite subpar weather. Saturday had rain throughout the day but we still managed to complete 3 races in 10-20+ mph winds. Arden Anderson won all three races to pace the A Fleet, with Alex Monroe grabbing all the seconds and Adam Anderson and Peter Hartwich grabbed the 3rd’s. Randy Howell paced the Kona fleet with three bullets as well, while Randy Moon and Del Carpenter made chase. Andrea Gratton showed her skills in Sport Fleet by completing all the races in the challenging gusty conditions.

Sunday had nicer weather for the spectators and we completed 4 more races in 5-10 mph wind. Adam Anderson had a nose for the wind and great speed around the course to win all 4 races and take the regatta crown. Alex Monroe kept his streak of 2nd’s going to hold onto second place and push Arden Anderson back to 3rd place. Andy Gratton overcame the flu to race on Sunday taking several 3rd place finishes. Mike Fox showed great skill in the conditions as well to win all 4 Kona races while Jeff Adamski made him work for it while grabbing all the 2nd’s. Despite their efforts, Randy Howell was able to maintain his position in 1st for the victory and Randy Moon held onto 2nd while Mike Fox worked his way into 3rd place. Andrea Gratton continued to lead the Sport Fleet.

Results:  A Fleet  |  Kona  |  Sport
