JRSC Cattail Regatta – June 5

The Cattail event  is not a MOWIND points event … at least not this year but could be next season if response is good.   To help keep windsurf racing alive and active in the Toledo locale some of the TABA crew have organized a start at the Toledo based Jolly Roger Sailing Club regatta.    This is racing on Maumee Bay in Lake Erie.   Meet up at the JRSC  Saturday morning to register and find out where to launch from.   For NOR and additional information see the JSRC Web site.  JRSC located at 5961 Edgewater Drive, Toledo, OH 43611.

Walleye: Day Two

We have nice east winds and one race completed. Second race (R8 overall) underway. A Fleet is doing outside loop course and Sport is doing a one lap box.

It is a great day with sunny skies and 10-15 mph breeze.

More racing after lunch

The wind subsided during the break, but then came back enough to race some more around 4:00pm. A Figure 8 course was set near shore and some tight racing was seen around every mark. It was also great to see Kevin Gratton out on the race course again! He was up to his old tricks now that his shoulder is recovered.

Adam Anderson and Tim Cleary traded first place finishes in the three Figure8 races, and Mic Igoe made a strong showing to finish the day tied with Don Altmyer for 2nd place. In the Sport Fleet, the Maksenieks (Dad Marts and Son Gatis) are in first and second place after top finishes in the Figure8’s. Tom Stokes is tied with Gatis for third in Sport Fleet.

Here’s a quick shoutout to Steve-V2 watching us from Spain(!). Wish you could be here with us.

Break for lunch

We’ve had 3 good races this morning and are breaking for lunch. Adam Anderson has 3 firsts in A Fleet followed by Jeff Koeberl and Don Altmyer. The vintage class has been in the mix too with Ted Schweitzer and Andy Gratton.

Gary Lovrine is pacing the sport fleet.

More racing after the break.

Walleye Wagatta is underway!

live from the committee boat…

first race started just before noon in good winds of 5-10 mph, a welcome site given the forecast of “building to calm.” Adam Anderson, EL-111, just passed the RC boat in the lead for lap one.
