2014 Walleye Wagatta Report

The Walleye Wagatta was a lot of fun this year. The weekend kicked off with fantastic 20-30mph winds on Friday, and Saturday continued with nice 10-15 mph winds for racing. The first race Saturday was a long distance adventure from Windpower to the Fond du Lac Lighthouse to Deadwood Point and finishing back at Windpower. After a lunch break two course races were run in the afternoon.

Sunday morning had some wind, but it didn’t last long. We managed to get in one good race before the wind got too fickle, but that didn’t stop us. We ran a second race that became a bit grueling with the light shifty wind. Adam Anderson showed a great nose for the wind and gutted out the win – his 4th straight. However, a poor finish in the long distance race kept him from capturing the overall title. Arden Anderson relied on his victory in the long distance, and a string of 2nd place finishes in course racing to win the overall title.

Del Carpenter paced the Kona Fleet, Larry Reed won the Sport Fleet, and Mary Deuster was the top woman.
